- Get on BC Housing’s registry – odds are you will find housing before you actually get housed through BCH, but it is a good idea to get on the list NOW if you aren’t already!
- If applicable, find a professional to back you up and help fill out the supplementary application.
- Go for a walk in the area you want to live in. Keep an eye out for “for rent” signs. Look at the intercoms of apartment buildings. If there is a property manager or landlord listed in the directory, buzz them and introduce yourself. It doesn’t hurt to ask, and it has worked before! Why would they bother posting the place on Craigslist if they could just rent it to the person who showed up a week before the place got vacated?
- Ask around…everywhere. Your friends, your friends’ friends, your pharmacist, your favourite coffee shop, …everyone knows someone who knows someone who is about to move!
